(91+) The entry level red 2014 Guímaro, always a sure value, is mostly Mencía with some 15% other local reds (Brancellao, Merenzao, Garnacha Tintorera, Mouratón, Negreda, Sousón, Caíño...). It is young and bottled unoaked, and sourced from old vineyards. It fermented in stainless steel and is kept in contact with the lees for some four to eight months before bottling. This 2014 is spectacular, really floral, open and aromatic, full of violets, vibrant and fresh. The palate shows great tension, with superb balance, a velvety texture and deep flavors and length. This is a stunning young Ribeira Sacra.
