Wine Advocate 87 points - There are two cuvees of Pinot Noir under the Cross Barn by Paul Hobbs label. The 2013 Cross Barn Sonoma Coast (9,549 cases) is the bigger of the two cuvees. It spends 11 months in barrel, of which only 10% is new. It shows fresh beet root, sassafras, tart pomegranate and red and black cherry notes. It’s a medium-bodied, delicate, finesse-styled Pinot Noir to drink over the next 4-5 years. (Dec 2014)
Antonio Galloni 91 Points - Bright red cherries, plums, mint, pine and spices lift from the 2013 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast). Aromatically nuanced and pliant, the 2013 impresses for its boisterous, joyous expression of the Coast. Drink this forward, fruit-driven Pinot over the next few years.
|Wine maker notes|
|Ruby-hued and scented with wild dark cherry and black tea, this is a bright, focused expression of Sonoma Coast pinot noir with greth length and balanced acidity. Layers of blackberry, cherry and earth unforld over a silky palate. Notes of cola and mineral accent a long finish.|
