Wine Enthusiast 90 points - This blend of straight rye whiskeys has a light amber hue and a scent redolent of brown sugar and baked apple, plus a fleeting sarsaparilla note. Most of the allspice and oak flavor comes through on the long finish. At 92 proof, this rye feels relatively hot; mix into Sazeracs and other cocktails. (Jul 2015)
David Perkins is at it again with a new batch of whiskey created from two very different ryes- a 16 year old combination with a 2 year old. the result is a charming conjunction of youthful spice with wood-polished flavor of maturity: cinnamon, mint, chocolate and pepper all swimming together. For the price, it's one heckuva deal! Great for sipping on its own or for fancy rye cocktails. A real winner!
