| Heidi Schrock Vogelsang 2006 |
The 2006 Ried Vogelsang is a blend of Pinot Blanc, Furmint, Welschriesling, and Muskateller fermented in tank and then given a stay in fuder. Ripe melon, quince, pink grapefruit, banana, and sweet flowers in the nose offer an effusive introduction to a fruit bomb of extreme ripeness, positively lush, and backed by residual sugar left behind in order to limit the finished alcohol. Yet for all that, there is a juicy fresh-fruited core here, too, (as with this year’s Pinot Blanc) and subtly pungent herb and citrus zest notes add invigoration to the finish.
