| The 2005 Syrahs are slightly more linear and European-styled than the 2004 in terms of weight and elegance. They reflect the cooler, higher acid, more restrained alcohol vintage, and are in complete contrast to the flamboyant, intense, heady 2004s. From a vineyard planted in 1911, the 2005 Syrah McDowell Valley Vineyard reveals a dense purple color followed by blueberry, violet, pepper, crushed rock, and chalk aromas. Pure, rich, and medium to full-bodied, it should age handsomely for 10-12 years. |
